GAIN offers community service opportunities to attorneys and others in advocating and supporting immigrants’ efforts to obtain asylum or other immigration status in the United States.
Asylum: relief available to persons fleeing their home country as a result of being persecuted for their race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a social group
T-Visas: relief that allows victims of human trafficking to remain in the United States upon cooperation with law enforcement in the investigation and/or prosecution of their trafficker
U-Visas: relief available to immigrant victims of certain enumerated crimes who have suffered substantial physical or mental abuse and cooperated with law enforcement in the investigation and/or prosecution of the offender
Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) petitions: relief available to a spouse or child of a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) who is a victim of domestic violence
