Our purpose is to provide free legal representation in immigration matters to individuals seeking asylum or other relief from persecution in their home countries.

GAIN alerts volunteer attorneys to new opportunities through its e-mail listserve.  If a volunteer attorney accepts a case by reply e-mail, GAIN will provide the volunteer attorney with access to GAIN’s extranet, which contains instructive “getting started” memoranda and other helpful background materials.

 If appropriate, GAIN will also pair the volunteer attorney with a volunteer mentor from the American Immigration Lawyer's Association (AILA), who will be available to respond to any substantive immigration law or procedure questions.
